Our History

Shamrock Bank is a full service, employee-owned, community bank serving Oklahoma and North Texas communities.  Our mission is to create an outstanding banking experience for our communities by nurturing an effective employee ownership culture.

Our legacy began with the vision of Carolyn Watson, former Chairman and CEO of Shamrock Bancshares. Carolyn and husband, Nolan, purchased First National Bank in Coalgate, Oklahoma in 1955.  After Nolan’s unexpected passing in 1985, Carolyn 's connection to her bank family strengthened, and she endlessly referred to employees as her family.  Her passion to enrich the lives of all employees (her family) led to the conversion of the bank’s ownership into an employee stock ownership plan.  It is only by her generosity and spirit that Shamrock Bank is one of the few employee-owned banks in Oklahoma. 

Carolyn Watson Continues Giving Back

Carolyn was dedicated to improving the quality of life in rural Oklahoma communities. In 1995, she established the Carolyn Watson Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation.  Through her vision, the foundation has supported projects that enhance education, literacy, arts and culture, health and safety, and economic development across rural Oklahoma.

In 2010, Carolyn expanded her philanthropy by creating the Carolyn Watson Opportunities Scholarship, helping rural students attend college and pursue their goals. Full eligibility requirements and application instructions are available through the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. 

Carolyn’s vision and leadership continue to expand opportunities and empower communities for generations to come.
